Night at the Airport.

"Had one been asked to take a Martian to visit a single place that neatly captures the gamut of themes
running through our civilization- from our faith in technology to our destruction of nature, from our interconnectedness
to our romanticizing of travel- then it would have to be to the departures and arrivals halls that one would head."

- A Week at the Airport: Heathrow Diary by Alain de Botton

Moved Out.

It's just really weird to see the room that was once full of life going back to the scratch.
Followed by the last moment of closing the door but without the need for locking it.

Levels (2011).

Ever since I heard this song through my friend, I was immediately hooked up with the sound of synth.
Regardless the number of time I listened, it always gives me this feeling similar to drinking pop- fizzy and fresh.

April 22, 2013.

As I'm done with most of the exams, I also had enough time to finish reading the Undiscovered Self by Carl Jung.

Through out the book, Jung's idea was focused on the importance of individuals to resist the collective forces of society (i.e. socialist dictatorship, state slavery, religion) and the need of awareness and understanding of one's unconscious mind and the true inner nature.

"Just a man, as a social being, cannot in the long run exist without a tie to the community, so the individual will never find the real justification for his existence, and his own spiritual and autonomy, anywhere except in an extramundane principle capable of relativizing the overpowering influence of external factors. The individual who is not anchored in God can offer no resistance on his own resources to the physical and moral blandishments of the world. For this he needs the evidence of inner, transcendent experience which alone can protect him from the otherwise inevitable submersion in the mass."

"Resistance to the organized mass can be effected only by the man who is as well organized in his individuality as the mass itself."

Cost.

I feel very lucky to have parents who are willing to pay my living expenses and expensive tuitions.
No, I'm not just saying this because my flight date to Seoul is approaching.

Without their support, all the dreams and experiences that I'm having would've been not possible.
Thank you mom and dad- hope to see you soon (:

4 April 2013

April 4, 2013.

I've just had a potential tenant checking out my room for a new contract. He checked the other rooms upstair and downstair but pleased with my room and said that he's going to take it for the upcoming academic year.

What an odd feeling to hear such thing. The place and bed I considered myself as home will soon become a strange place. The realization that all the time I spent here was only temporary- and the fact that it will soon to be distant memory gives me unknown- muted feeling.

April 4, 2013.

It's the last week of my sophomore year. Within a few weeks, everything in this room will be assorted and packed.
Then I'll be flying to the other side of the planet where different meanings of family, friends, home exist.
