Democracy.

A government system that runs by their citizens.
A government system that everyone can be part of.

Whether you are an intellectual or not,
interested or ignorant,
living in a house or a street,
You get one vote.

How come not the teenagers?

We have a representative democracy (and many decisions by Ottawa City Council can be appealed to an unelected board appointed by the province, the Ontario Municipal Board).

A direct democracy ("government system that is run by the citizens") would have the entire city vote on every decision, instead of representatives making those decisions on our behalf.

Thanks RG. The reason I said "Government system that is run by the citizens" was because I was thinking about democracy amongst to other political system such as aristocracy. Compare to the government body in such system, representatives in democracy are still the citizens that could possibly be anyone regardless of their origin of the family or wealth. What I probably wanted to say was that, democracy is the system that runs by not monarch or elite, but citizens.

However, you are right about the definition the direct democracy and I should've be careful that it could lead to other meaning. I appreciate your comment! :)
