Sarah Chang.

Violinist Sarah Chang is one of the most acclaimed violinist of our time. At four, she started to play the 1/16 sized violin. At six, she went to the Julliard school. At ten, she recorded her first album and reached the best sellers of the billboard chart of classical category. Since then, she quickly rose to fame and had schedule of up to 150 concerts per year. She has collaborated with most major orchestras around the globe, including the New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and NHK Orchestra. Even though Sarah Chang is an American born Korean who never lived in Korea, she became one of the famous inspiration figures amongst to Koreans, including myself. Fortunately, she visited the National Art Centre for a concert and I was able to be one of her audience. From the beginning of her string sound to the famous 4th movement of the New World Symphony, It was an amusing and awe-inspiring night of discovering. Plus, I also had a chance to get an autograph and take picture together with the such celebrity. Can this be any better?

Campbell's Soup Cans.

Some people might say that he is not an artist but a businessman. Not like any other so-called artist, he publicly chased after money and fame. When he started to receive attention in the 60s, he rented an art studio and named it as the 'factory' and hired 'art workers' to 'produce' paintings like they are products from the assembly line. This person with unusual view towards art is later became known as the leading figure of the pop art, Andy Warhol. Many of his works include iconic American product such as the Campbell's soup cans, Coca-Cola bottles, as well as paintings of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, symbolizing the consumer and market culture of the states.

When I saw the Campbell's soup cans in home, they reminded me of about the artist and  his work that I've seen in the New York. So I decided took the picture of this two and an empty can standing and upload it on my blog. It's just a photo of cans, but some how means something to me.

Lights will guide you home.

Fix You by ColdPlay

'When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste

Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones'

Evacuation.

At first I thought this was another false fire alarm that went on several times already in this semester.
then the whole school was told to evacuate to the Glebe community centre and realized it wasn't usual drill.
It was confused scene with people talking about possible bomb threat and calling their parents.
According to the school website, yes, the school did received an actual threat. Unbelievable.
Last week, there was news about IED being found in Glebe area and someone must prank called.
I'll probably have to keep writing the physics test that I haven't finished though.

Nike.

the company was founded by University of Oregon track athlete in 1964,
starting off by selling imported Japanese shoes on the back of his truck.
One Sunday morning, he found a way to make a trainer shoe with great grip,
when he poured liquid urethane into a waffle machine as an experiment in 1974.
By 1980, it reached 50% market share of the US athletic shoe market.
Current brand value of the Nike is estimated over $10.7 billion.

The familiar and bold Nike logo was first adopted in 1972 and became their trademark since then.
The graphic design student in Portland State University agreed on the request of coming up with logo design,
then made the deal of charging the logo for 35$.

Nike is the Greek goddess of victory and the logo represents her wing.
It's all part of their marketing strategy, but I still like the spirit of the brand.

Good Life.

by OneRepublic

Whether I spent the year 2010 as I wanted or not, the year shall remains in memories and records. As I'm thinking back of what happened, I must say that it was pretty good year with a lot of changes and challenges. Traveling to Montreal, Toronto, Seoul, and New York. Starting of this blog. Farewell to friends. Meeting new friends. Applying universities. Start taking pictures. Start reading books. Numerous immature decisions and actions. Efforts towards independence and ego. More or less, I've enjoyed the year well and made some progress.

This is the song I want to start off the new year of 2011 with. In hopes and wishes that everyone have another pleasant and optimistic year like the tune of it. This year would be particularly  important year for myself since I'll be graduating high school and deciding the path of post-secondary education. I'm expecting a hell of a lot of changes and challenges, but I'm in. I Can't wait to see the things that I haven't seen yet, feel the things that I haven't felt yet, and learn the things that I haven't learn yet.
